1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C). This low temperature will help melt the candy without burning it. Trust me, burnt candy is no fun – I learned that the hard way once!
2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This will prevent the pretzels from sticking and make cleanup a breeze. Nobody wants to scrub burnt candy off a baking sheet, do they?
3. Arrange the pretzels on the baking sheet in a single layer. Ensure they're not touching each other to allow even melting of the candy.
4. Place one candy melt on top of each pretzel. If using large candy melts, you might need to break them into smaller pieces.
5. Bake for 4-6 minutes, or until the candy melts are soft and shiny but not completely melted. Watch them closely, as ovens vary, and you don't want them to melt too much!
6. Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Immediately sprinkle the melted candy with your chosen seasoning. Be generous, but not too generous – you want that perfect balance of sweet and spicy.
7. If desired, add sprinkles or other decorations while the candy is still melted. Get creative! This is where you can really personalize your Firecracker Pretzel Bites.
8. Let the pretzel bites cool completely at room temperature, or place them in the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes to speed up the setting process. The candy should be firm to the touch.
9. Once the candy is set, carefully remove the pretzel bites from the parchment paper. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain their freshness. Pro tip: hiding them from yourself is also a good idea, they're seriously addicting.
